My middle child was 12-15. Always on demand
Every 3-4? Pshew... I think we were still nursing every hr, sometimes even more frequent. 9 months was a huge growth spurt here, lol.
My daughter is 10 months and cut back on nursing a lot this past week. She nurses about every 3/4 hours now. I always have her nurse before a meal, and she has a big nap time, bedtime, and 3 am nursing.
In year one, it stays on demand. If you want to cut back, don't do it till age one... breastmilk is baby's primary food till then. Cutting back on nursing is cutting back on the primary food source. Solids are not a replacement for that because they're nowhere near as nutritionally complete.
3-4 hour intervals sounds pretty light in my experience. **grin** Three at the outmost.
