I need to know if pumping 3 oz is good or not also are there anyways for me to be able to produce more milk...my son's doc wanted me to try to pump some to see how much i am producing...she said he should be eatting 4-5 oz but i really think that he is at 6oz since i can nurse him and he will still need a 3 oz bottle

Supplementing is not needed. You're producing plenty as evidenced by your more than average pump response.

any doctor that asks you to pump to gauge how much your son is getting, is very uneducated about breastfeeding..

You don't gauge breastmilk by how much you pump.. you gauge by wet diapers (6-8 a day).. and so long as they are gaining some weight and not losing it.. you are fine!!!!

why are you supplementing?

so he lost some weight and that's why you were concerned.. why was he hospitalized? an illness?

How are his daily wet diaper counts??

That is way more gain than I would have expected in 3 months! There is NOTHING wrong except for the doctor expecting more gain.
