Kinda annoyed...

I work on the post partum unit of a fairly large hospital. We have an employee pump room, which I love! However, I make sure to NEVER go over 20 min of using this room. This hospital has over 2000 employees. I know I am not the only EBFing mommy hear who needs to pump.

There is one employee that I have seen (she's not from my unit), who goes in the pump room for 45-55 min per pumping session. I'm irritated at this becuz when I need to pump, on my 3 hour mark I cannot wait 55 min to do so! Doesn't work. So then I'm left pumping in the break room. We don't have any male staff on our unit but still. :(

Not sure what I can do about this, but I'm seriously annoyed.

I would speak with her.  There is no reason or need whatsoever for her to pump that long.

No. It's a small room w/ a rocking chair, a pump, and a sink area.

:/

I'm gonna try. I don't know her or what dept she works in so, I'll try and catch her coming out of the room.

I think she's hiding! She may pump but if i pumped for 55 minutes straight my pump would probably suck my nipples off lol. So my conclusion... she's pumping and then just hanging out! Talk to her or an administrator. Maybe they could organize a schedule so all of the pumping momma's could get in when they needed to.

That's a long time. I pump for 20min max. I have patients to tend to, and an hr would put me too far behind.

I can't afford 55 minutes every two-3 hours! I'm jealous if she can.

Yeah... I don't think she's pumping for all that time. I think she's napping or doing something else. Sort of like a janitor at my work who used to hide out in the program director's office at night!

I am gonna speak to my supervisor on Tuesday. See what she says.
