I am pumping to get a supply for when my fiancé and I are on our honeymoon and our son stays with my mother. My supply fluctuates and i will get any where from 2-5 oz a session. if I get 2 oz one day and 2 oz the next can I combine the milk to make a 4 oz bag to store?

Yes but they should be the same temp (so combine after they've been in the fridge) and date with the oldest milk.

Within a 24 hour period yes you can combine the milk. That is what the LC told me and I have always done.

" Date milk before storing. Milk from different pumping sessions/days may be combined in one container – use the date of the first milk expressed. "

Also print off the article from kellymom.com about bottle feeding breastmilk. How old is your baby?

He is 4 months old today. Why do you ask?

Since a serving is about 2-3 ounces, I'd actually store in the amount you get at a pump. Easier for portion control.

My pumping rule of thumb was one session = one feeding. It really kept things simple and I never ran into overfeeding issues.

Bottles should be 2-3oz every 2-3 hrs. So I would store in the smaller amounts
