I am a new hire on a post partum unit at a fairly large hospital in my city. Today is our breastfeeding class, that we all have to take. I wish I could bring in every pregnant women, or new mom to this class. I've been here for an hour and so far we have spoken about:
-how a pit or Epi can decrease ur natural need to produce milk.
-how skin to skin helps produce milk,
-what oxytocin is and what it does
- the risks of NOT breastfeeding
-WHY pacifiers are bad in the first 4-5 weeks
- what types of breast there are and how each one works with the success or difficulty of breastfeeding
- what can happen with breastfeeding after breast reduction or augmentation
- why it is so important to let baby come naturally with out induction
- why BFing moms actually get more sleep
And sooooooo much more! This information is so amazing!
Now, off to go pump for my baby! :)

It's so nice when hospitals are well informed. It makes a world of difference.
