Today is not just my daughter, Rebekah's birthday but it's our anniversary of one year nursing. I'm so thriled to have made it this far.
As some know, I nursed my oldest for about 4 months before I gave up (he's now 9), my 7 year old was a formula only baby (I didn't think I could nurse with a toddler running around, too). After joining CafeMom and learning about breastfeeding, I vowed that if I was given the opportunity of having another baby, I would nurse him/her to at least 1 year without giving up.
I did it!!! I don't plan to wean her. She enjoys her nighttime feedings too much for her to wean anytime soon :)
My advice for moms who want to breastfeed or who are struggling- Don't give up, you can do it and don't be afraid to ask questions-even if you think you know the answers-ask anyway-it's VERY reassuring to get answers. Also, doctor's don't always know everything.
Here's a pic of her from last week when we got her new car seat (it wasn't installed yet).
