Explosive Poop

He's almost two weeks old and no problems nursing so far. The last couple of days he's pooped a lot, it's been highly explosive, and he cries like he's in pain. He has also burped a lot so I know he's very gassy. I'm exclusively breastfeeding. Could this be from a food allergy or more likely is he just super gassy?

My first two babies were rarely ever gassy, but my third baby was so gassy and her gas smelled BAD! Room clearing bad, yet her poop smelled sweet like buttered popcorn. It's normal.

DH is rather proud of DS2's explosive gas.  Perhaps too proud........   :)

Explosive and gassy are commonly symptoms of overactive letdown. Does he choke or gulp while nursing? Nursing while leaning back can help reduce the force of the flow into his mouth and decrease the amount of air taken in.

My second son was my gassiest and had especially explosive poop. Several times a day he had poop blowing out the back of his diaper and I was changing his clothes, my clothes, and washing my sling again (or car seat cover, swing cover, bouncy seat cover). I had massive oversupply and OAL with him. But all 4 of my babies had poop blowouts, just not several every single day like my #2.
