I'm a sales rep for a commercial furniture company so I spend most of my days in my car. I pump once a day in my car while I'm out too. Well, today and tomorrow I have to escort our manufacturer's rep (male) around all day. So at some point I'm going to have to tell him to pound pavement so I can pump...soooooo awkward!

I used to be a sales rep when I had my first kid and was on road all day. Our boss would pick random "ride out" days to shadow you and face time with accounts. It was so uncomfortable stopping every 3 hours finding a place to pump privately where I normally would just park in a random parking lot. I finally told him I was losing time with him riding around with me and he agreed.

So you stopped and kicked him out to pump? Did he know that's what you were doing? I don't even know this guy...I've met him once! DH suggested that when we stop for lunch to tell him to go in ahead of me and I'd be in in a few mins. Not a bad idea but if he doesn't know why he'll probably think I'm rude!

Well my "ride a long partner" was my manager and I was clear from day one I needed to pump. I did kick him out, but he was very understanding and would go smoke, get snacks, go into golf stores...random stuff to kill time lol.You know you are going to do some talking regarding personal and professional life. I would mention the LO at home. Then, when you arrive for your lunch, ask if he would mind grabbing a table and just apologize for being a little behind him, but say you need to call and check up on baby and pump. If the guy is awkward and you don't feel comfortable telling him you are going to pump, just say you need to check up on baby and follow up a call with an account or a lead and then you will be in.

This. Id rather tell someone that I need to pump than to have them think I'm being rude or making them feel weird for not giving an explanation.
