Pain with latch / letdown

I am experiencing crazy pain with the initial latch and letdown. Like sometimes I end up screaming because it hurts sooooo much. Meeting with lactation consultant tomorrow, but wondering if any of you ladies experience this too? I don't think it's her latch as once the letdown happens I am fine, other than tende nipples.

Love that site!!! When I read about the white strip I was like yes...that's what's happens to me!!! Also tonight I just had a large milk blister on my left nipple. I popped it and milk poured out. I had milk blisters on the other side before but none this large. I am def engorged too;( soooo painful.

Hoping the lactation consultant tomorrow will be able to help.

Remind me--how old is your baby? Any chance you're dealing with overactive letdown/oversupply as well?

She is 1 month old.  I do have lots of milk, so my letdown is abundant for sure. She is better with it now, but used to pull off and gag before. Sometimes she still does that. Also she seems to be stuffed up, I might call her doctor to have her checked out. Better yet I will ask the lactation consultant this morning when I go in.

Last night I used my daughters newborn cloth diaper prefolds for breast pads. One prefold on each breast with the cloth breast pads I purchased. I loaded my breasts up with lanolin, and rested them all night. This morning I pumped and instantly got 8oz. As I normally do. I am afraid to nurse her as it is soooooo painful!!!!

Try some drops of breastmilk in her nose--it's magic!

I had/have a really painful let down also and overactive one. It was really awful in the beginning, but as time goes on it's less, but still hurts.
