Ugh!! So upset with my supposedly pro-bfing sil!

I am so beyond upset!! Seb has a soy and cows milk protein sensitivity. I am always super careful about reading labels and avoiding both and he does well. I slipped up a couple weeks ago and had ramen noodles ( noodles and dried milk in the seasonings) and he was a mess for about a day. Well, yesterday I made lasagna for dh for fathers day and in a scramble to find substitutes for my lasagna I grabbed some tofu. Color me dumb but I didn't even think to check the ingredients in tofu. I had NO idea it was made out of freakin soy! Anyhow, I spent most of last night up with my poor, hurting baby and vented about my stupidity on Fb. I was practically attacked by my sister in law...she went on about how she doesn't understand why I haven't brought him to a GI doc and that if it was her kid she would do everything she could to "fix" him. Then she says i'm making him AND me suffer bc of "google research". I am not suffering! I do just fine with my (very) limited diet. If itll help ny meatball I'd eat nothing but grass! She went on to say that he is suffering BC I won't "just switch him to formula or get him on meds for his gerd." He doesn't HAVE gerd! As long as I am careful about what I'm eating, he's fine! And who is she to insinuate that I am not doing my best to help my baby?!? Guh!! And to top it off, she got 8 likes to her comment!! Is this really how my "friends" feel? Like I'm not trying my best to help him?? I just want to curl up and cry (and I did-with my baby for half the night). :'(

There really is no reason for my rant...just wanted to get that off my chest. :(

Anyone who can't see that you are obviously trying doesn't sound like someone you should associate yourself with. If he is doing just fine with your dietary restrictions, that is your choice. Just try and take a little more time reading ingredients. :)

Time to unfriend SIL - both on Facebook and IRL.

Ugh, your SIL needs a good beating. Sorry, that she is such a heartless senseless ass. If you are trying and ok with your restricted diet, it is no one's business how you are taking care of your baby. IMO you shouldn't associate yourself with people who can't see that you are doing your best for you and your child.

Only once we surrender to the Mystery can it reveal itself to us!!!

I'd be asking her where her medical degree came from to be diagnosing your son, and how it differs than your "google research"

You sound like you're doing the best for your baby!

hugs hugs hugs !! i have slipped up a time or 2 and have delt with a screaming baby ! its not fun .. but i have one friend who stopped bfing because the diet was to strict which it can be.. and its not everyones choice to do it so i am happy she bfed as long as she did !! however for me this isnt a choice it is more than that since he is my last and ill never get the chance again ! i was so happy when she told me she was proud of me and my self control to watch what i eat every day just so i could keep bfing :) ! so im telling you that you are doing an amazing job and your only human and we do make mistakes !

Facebook is not real life. Ignoree Facebook.

And in-law is a suffix meaning TO BE IGNORED.

Formula would make your child WORSE, you know.

Now,stay off Facebook and away from the inlaws. If you need to vent, that's what we're here for. **grin**

Thats not a pro Bfing person and how would giving formula solve anything if he has issues with dairy and soy?

I wouldn't communicate with some that disrespectful.

She's stupid. Awe I'm sorry you got so upset. Your doing a good job don't let idiotic people make you feel bad. You will soon be a pro at knowing the ingredients of all dif types of food. but yea a lot of food has soy it, esp processed stuff.
