I'm 39 weeks pregnant and just got a pump. Is it ok to start pumping now? Will it hurt anything??

No need to start pumping now. You will only produce small amounts of colostrum until after baby is delivered. It won't do anything to help and it could possibly start your labor sooner than nature intened.

You don't have milk yet. You have colostrum. Starting to pump now can trigger labor. Please wait until your milk comes in and your supply regulates before you start pumping.

You don't want to pump before your placenta is detached from your body.  It could trigger contractions...
