10 month old with lip tie

I want to get it fixed before her top teeth come in, but I'm not sure how to go about it. It hasn't been a problem, more than likely due to my over-supply, in terms of DD's growth, and I haven't had any pain since she was a month old, but I've noticed that when she babbles, especially Ma and Ba, that the lip curls in, and she's never had a good latch, but at 10 1/2 months she's about 30 inches long and close to 20 pounds. I've also begun to suspect a tongue tie, as the nipple has begun to be lipstick shaped. It didn't used to be, and it usually only happens when she falls asleep eating and slowly slips off.

We live in Ohio, and I know that asking her Ped is futile, but I don't know if we need a referral or not. I plan to call her insurance, but I don't know what to ask, which is the majority of the reason I'm posting this. The rest if the reason is because I don't know where to go, which is why I said we live in Ohio, near Cleveland. Does anyone know of a dr that will check her?

Eta: when is it too late to get her tie clipped?

it's not too late. Call the insurance and ask if a trip to a specialist needs a referral. If it does then I would speak to her pedi. If she says no then I would start calling pediatric dentists if you have dental insurance.

Pediatric ENT's also do them. They would come under your medical insurance.

Oh and it's never to late to clip!  I even know many adults that have be revised (hoping to get mine done when we have the money).  We did my 23 month old last December and it was such a help!  She had decay on her front teeth that's stopped and the gap closed on it's on within weeks :)  Her speech dramatically improved as well (we had her tongue done too) and she no longer chokes frequently.

I suspect that I had a lip tie dealt with when I was seven, but they gave me laughing gas and didn't just clip it, they sewed it back up higher, so I wasn't sure if that's what it was exactly. Now I'm more sure, thank you. I wonder if her gagging on her solid food could indicate a tongue tie. She does it all the time and I thought it was just because she would just put too much in her mouth and not swallow. I only give her a little bit at a time off my plate, but she acts like she swallows when she doesn't, so I give her more. Or I did. Now I've got her "trained" to open her mouth when I say "ah" so I can see if she's actually swallowed.

The bad news is that Beavercreek is 4 hours from us. The good news is that it's an hour from my dad, and we'll be going down there in January, so maybe we can do something then.

Pippi couldn't do "real" food til well past a year, it was closer to 16 months or so. She needed purees forever. Evie got clipped at 3 months and is an eating fiend, she's never had trouble with solids. I still have troubles with some foods and gagging

That's not too bad honestly, we flew cross country to get them done properly. My first we drove a few hours and he didn't do it right :/ Luckily, a new dentist opened up in our state and we will see him next time! And it's most likely her tongue is tied as well
