She asked my pump output... I said 3-4 oz per side.. She said oh that's not good. My son is 4 months and ebf from the tap I pump mostly for relief.

Of course you can! Milk is made on demand and pumps are inefficient at best. Keep up the great work!

Did she say how much you should be getting?

Good thing you know better! Misinformed Dr. are one reason women feel they can't breastfeed and it is sad.

No she didn't. My son was a preemie and has gained almost 8lbs since birth. 4 months ago. Nursed straight from tap all the time.

I think 3-4 is super. She would assume my baby is starving then cause it could take me all day to pump that much!

Normal pump output is 1-2 oz!!


Babies are more effiecent than the pump!

Doctors who are so uneducated and dispense bad information that they know nothing about really tick me off!!! They should NOT be saying ANYTHING on the subject!!!
That doctor is going to pull the same thing on a mom who doesn't know that pump output means NOTHING regarding supply or how much the baby is getting and start the slippery slope of supplementing.
