:-( I feel like a huge failure .ds is almost 3weeks old and was born 3weeks early .he just can't latch hes so small and my nipples are inverted even with nipple sheilds he just falls asleep .im pumping trying to keep my milk coming but im producing less and less .im only producing about 3oz combined per pump session .

I dont know what to do .I feel like giving up .

Yes. .5-2oz is average output. Also shields aren't what you need. They are to protect damaged nipples and do nothing for inverted nipples. You need shells. You wear them when not nursing or pumping. They draw your nipple out. There is also something called a latch assist that sounds like it would be a big help to you. You are NOT a failure and not as bad off as you think! Hugs! Keep your chin up :)

Just think of it as he is just now technically supposed to be born. He's still a newborn, and still learning.

At his age, 1-2 oz is a full feeding. No need to have big bottles, ever, with bf babies.

3 ounces is a good pump output. At his age he doesn't need more then an ounce or two per feeding.

This is the size of the latch assist. I always thought it was going to be a big thing like a pump part. I've never used it, but somehow I got a free one in the mail.
