Maybe the oddest question ever asked....but...

Has anyone used breastmilk on one of their animals?? Ok I have a kitten with what appears to be a slight eye infection. I contacted my SIL who is a vet tech about what I should do but she hasn't responded yet. I was thinking maybe a drop of BM in it would do it some good. But I feel weird putting BM in a cats eye LOL I am sure my Hubby will find it insane. But it can't hurt right???

Do I win the oddest question in the breastfeeding group award?

I have a feeling if we looked through all the posts, we would at least find a similar question! :-) I would certainly try your milk on the kitten's eye. It certainly won't hurt and potentially could help!

I would give it a shot! If you have the mama cat, her milk would be better, but your milk certainly wouldn't hurt! :)

Oh no I don't :( We got this kitten from a friend. He is 14 wks (so not particularly little) and he is up to date on shots etc. So my only option is trying my milk, seeing if my SIL has a suggestion, or taking him to the vet. Which I would rather not have to do as we all know that can get costly LOL but I will if I have to.

Awesome!!! So do you know is it pretty common for cats to get eye infections. I had tons of cats and kittens when I was young. But I don't specifically remember any eye infections. And its been years since I owned a cat. I just put some drops in it and he did pretty well. I will do it a few times a day and see if it helps! It really is a mild issue right now so hopefully I caught it before it gets worse!

I remember a similar question asked at least once before!
Go ahead and try it.

Do it I saved baby birds by feeding them breast milk with a medicine dropper
