The tablets are sugar free. I was just looking at Pharmacy Times and apparently in the liquid form, Nystatin needs the sugar or its half-life gets really shortened.

Pure Nystatin powder with NO liquid can be dispensed, and has no sugar at all. It needs to be refrigerated and is good for 90 days. http://www.pharmacytimes.com/publications/issue/2005/2005-12/2005-12-5111

I was impressed with the efficacy of the powder for my dd's yeast rash on her bum and skin folds. But for oral thrush, even if they could take the sugar out somehow, it seems the concensus is that many strains of yeast are just plain resistant to nystatin anyway.

Thanks Gina! I had no idea the powder didnt have sugar...I had heard the same thing Stacy about strains being resistant.  Everytime I try to tell moms not to use nystatin for the 3-4th time straight they go nuts saying well the doctor said blah blah blah
