My son is 7 and 1/2 months old and is moving around alot.   SO when he nurses he isn't always content just nursing on one side for very long.    He will nurse for a couple of minutes if that and then whine and move around and then I try again and he won't take until I put him on the other side on so on.   Why does he do this and is this normal?

My son does the same thing! It gets sort of annoying, especially when I am trying to be private about the matter.

My daughter Emma is going to be 8 months on the 20th she acts the same way sometimes. I have found that when she acts like that either she is tired or not really wanting to eat, so I let her get down to play and she is fine. She also does that if she is really hungry and my milk doesn't let down as quick as she would like it to.

I am having the same issue with my DS who is almost 5 months.
I find that if I swap sides a few ties then perservere with one side eventually he will latch on and stay there.
It truly is a pain whne your out in public and I find if he doesn't co-operate I take him off and give him his pacifer (that usually satisfies him).

Sometimes I find that he is too itred and just needs a gentle rock or put into bed with pacifer and he will put himself off to sleep.

Until next time

My daughter does so and she is 15 months old. When she nurses out of one breast and holds the other and few minutes later claims it. In your baby's case I think he's had enough of the wet nipple and now wants somethig fresh and dry.

My son does that too. I think he just likes the change of view and is somewhat bored or something, or he just wants the milk to come down faster so he can be done faster and get back to his active little 8 month old life.

He also has this issue of wanting to hold ALL his toys at once. So maybe it's not so much that he's switching boobs as it is he's trying to figure out how he can get both nipples into his mouth at the same time? I know I jokingly squished my boobs together and my son was delighted to find both of my nipples in his mouth. His latch sucked though. :p

my 8 month old does the same thing! started doing it around 6 months, he arches his back and screams his little head off till i switch him, eats for a while then does it again, usually he eats off both boobs twice in a feeding. i think its funny.
