Ok, so my little girl is 19 months.I have been working on weening her, but she loves her "mommy snack". Any advice on this would be appreciated, but that's not my question. lol. A few weeks back we were all of a sudden having some latching problems. I'm not sure what the problem was, but we got it worked out. Except it left me as sore on the left side as when I first started nursing. Now that the problem spot has healed, I'm having pain in that breast. It's so sensitive. This morning it woke me up and actually brought tears. I don't have any hot or hard spots, no lumps and nothing that feels like it shouldn't be there.I thought about going to the local ER, but I don't want to sit there for hours if they are going to send me home with no help. The pain kinda shoots up into the breast from the nipple,(sorry if that's too graphic). I just want to know if anyone has experienced this. It's sensitive to cold too. That makes it worse and I really can't nurse her on the left side because that makes it worse. I'm kinda worried that maybe I got an infection, but not sure. What do you think? Have I earned myself a trip to the ER?????

First of all, congratz on nursing this long! (see my links below!)
Anyway, If you get a fever with this, you probably do have an infection.
Otherwise, you can wait until you get a chance to see the dr. In the meantime, try different nursing positions, and nurse more frequently. You may have a clogged duct, too, which can lead to an infection. Massage your breast often, even tho it's painful.
