So My DD is now 2 weeks old. She has not gained to much weight since she was born. She weighed 6lbs 4.5 ounces when she was born and dropped to 5lbs 15 ounces. And two days ago she went back up to 6lbs 2 ounces. My Dr is telling me I am not feeding her enough. UGH! I am up with this little one ALLL DAY AND NIGHT. Shes pooping in her diapers and peeing. I am counting my diapers today and will post how many she had today. So far since 12am I have had 5 dirty diapers (pee/poop) and about to change her diaper again. My DD likes to eat every 3-4 hours. During the night though she wants to feed like every hour. Her nights and days are really screwed up and so are mine. I am actually thankful I have only one child at the moment. I am a new mommy and I am totally stressed out. I love breastfeeding and I feel totally close to her. Would it be wrong of me to feel like I should introduce a bottle to her now at 2 weeks... I want to still BF but I need to get some sleep. I feel like I am loosing it. I pump my milk and save it so I would only feed her BM. I wouldnt go to formula ever. I dont know what to do . So I guess my questions are...

1.  should I try introducing a bottle to her so my drs are not on my ass about feeding her??

2. How do i switch her nights and days?

3. Is she eating enough?

4. Is she peeing and pooping enough?

I am so tired and wanting to give up but I kow that is nooo way of an option. PLease help. I am looking forward to your responses.

if she is dirtying enough diapers and everything then i dont see a problem, babies usually lose some weight after they are born. Is your Dr pushing formula THAT much?? maybe you get get a dr who supports bfeeding more

and as for her getting on a day and night schedule, umm idk, its probably going to take her more than a few weeks. You can make sure you have it very dark at night so she knows its sleep time

My Dr is telling me I am not feeding her enough. UGH! I am up with this little one ALLL DAY AND NIGHT. ignore him. he's obviously an idiot
Shes pooping in her diapers and peeing. I am counting my diapers today and will post how many she had today. So far since 12am I have had 5 dirty diapers (pee/poop) and about to change her diaper again. thats great!! You aim for 6-8 in a day!! And obviously you're meeting it. So she's doing good
My DD likes to eat every 3-4 hours. During the night though she wants to feed like every hour. Her nights and days are really screwed up and so are mine.  if your that worried about her eating more, wake her up every hour and a half. and her nights and days WILL eventually straighten out :) It took my son 2 months almost LOL
Alot of moms will tell you not to. But i did it, and it didn't cause nipple confusion. I just made sure i pumped. when he had a bottle. And no, i didnt use a special nipple LOL just the cheap set from Walmart
So I guess my questions are...

1.  should I try introducing a bottle to her so my drs are not on my ass about feeding her?? only if YOU want to, I see no problem at all with her eating

2. How do i switch her nights and days? wait it out sweety, you cant do anything about it.,

3. Is she eating enough? yes!

4. Is she peeing and pooping enough? yes!!! as long as she has 6-8 diapers a day, its great!!!! we dont go by weight gain or pumping output, just diapers

I am so tired and wanting to give up but I kow that is nooo way of an option. PLease help. I am looking forward to your responses.

1. No. You doc is a moron. She's fine. She sounds like she's eating great. She's gaining pretty well. Bottles will only screw up your plans to nurse. Look at WHO's new BF growth charts. Docs use one from like the 70's that includes bottle fed babies. Outdated and obsolete.

2. Don't play, change diapers (unless necessary), turn on lights, do anything stimulating at night. Feed and nothing else, no talking, tickling, anything. But have a lot of fun during the day. All babies go through that. All babies grow outta of that.

3. YES!

4. YES!

OK. That wasn't much drop...I'd have expected quite a bit more. We'll round up the half ounce of birth weight to put her at 101 ounces at birth. Acceptable loss for her is 10 percent,. taking her down to 91 ounces. The reported loss was to 95 ounces...was that discharge weight? She'd have lost more by the end of week one.

And two days ago she went back up to 6lbs 2 ounces.

98 ounces. If your reported lowest weight was indeed only discharge, then she'd have lost more and that means she gained more than the three ounces you think she gained. And she ONLY needs to have gained four ounces.

Then she's eating enough. The scale is a poor indicator of how baby is doing.

My DD likes to eat every 3-4 hours. During the night though she wants to feed like every hour. Her nights and days are really screwed up and so are mine.

All normal!

I am actually thankful I have only one child at the moment. I am a new mommy and I am totally stressed out. I love breastfeeding and I feel totally close to her. Would it be wrong of me to feel like I should introduce a bottle to her now at 2 weeks...

It could cause you supply problems...

I want to still BF but I need to get some sleep.

...which would lead to losing more sleep. If you're not co-sleeping already, DO IT. Worth kicking hubby out of bed for. Also eliminate anything not strictly needed for survival at this moment.

I feel like I am loosing it. I pump my milk and save it so I would only feed her BM. I wouldnt go to formula ever. I dont know what to do . So I guess my questions are...

Stop pumping. You're making more work.

1.  should I try introducing a bottle to her so my drs are not on my ass about feeding her??

No. Igfnore the doc. You might have to find a new one.

2. How do i switch her nights and days?

Wait. Keep the room bright during the day, dark at night and then wait. Too early to expect her not to be mixed up. Give it at least another month.

3. Is she eating enough?

4. Is she peeing and pooping enough?

Yes and yes.

All sounds good.  I was also going to suggest co-sleeping, if you aren't already doing it.  Even if it is only for part of the night, it will get you that much more REST, even if it isn't that much more SLEEP!  And being completely boring and not interactive at night, except for needed diapers (not just a little pee) and feeding, will make a difference in how much you are getting woke up (woken up?  not sure about grammer!)  If your LO is sleeping in her own space, holding the blanket/sleep sack you use to tuck your DD in with between you during the last time you BF before bed can help, since it will have your scent on it.  I have also heard about reversing the baby monitors during the time between when your LO goes down for the night and when you do, so that the sound goes into the baby's room.  They can hear your voice, and it can be reassuring for them so they sleep better.  Good luck!
