Proper latch

I don't think my daughter is getting the proper latch on my nipple. We started off using a nipple shield and I'm currently trying to wean her from it. When she latches without the shield, my nipple ends up looking a little squished when she comes off. I have no clue what she's doing wrong and the LCs I've spoken to have all said that her latch is fine but it doesn't feel like it. Anybody have any resources on how to get a proper latch.

I am having the same problem. I think that it is the shield that really hurt us. I have read every book I can get my hands on and watched every video. So far what I have learned is....chin first...and the bottom lip flip. Once latched on take your index finger and flip the bottom lip down. It has seemed to help us.
