Well, the holidays are here. Do you read holiday themed books? Will you read a holiday themed book when it's not that time of the year (i.e. an Xmas themed book during the summer0?
I don't do themes, and I don't do dated books (unless it's a historical fiction). I try to veer away from them in general, but especially I'd have issues with themes when it's the opposite time of year. I have enough trouble when a book makes reference to a certain season or weather climate, and I stop reading for a second and look up and find myself disoriented because it's different out my window. I love books that keep dates and "markers" of sorts out of their plots, that have a timeless quality.
I love christmas books but only at christmas time. I have only read one though so far but im goin to the bookstore tomorrow so i will most likely pick a few up.
I have already read three x'mas themed books and plan to read another one or two. I don't usually do this but this year with less money to spend, I'm trying to get in the mood. If I happened to grab a holiday book, such as a Stephanie Plum book in the summer, I'd absolutely read it!

I love to read about Christmas all the time. In fact, my family teases me because I like to watch Christmas movies all year round. I also like to read Halloween themed books any time of the year

I started the Queen Betsy series and, surprisingly, I am just getting to the Christmas one (Undead and Unreturnable)!

No, I don't usually read holiday books, at least not due to the fact they're set during a holiday. The only exception would be Dickens "Christmas Carol", and Truman Capote's short stories.
TV shows and movies are a different story- "It's a Wonderful Life", "A Charlie Brown Christmas", "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"(the original version)...and tomorrow I'll watch the Peanuts Thanksgiving on DVD.
The settings don't matter to me. I read whatever comes next. Leslie Meir's books are all holiday themed but have little to do with the holiday.
Guess I'm the oddball here then, I'll read anything that looks interesting, at any time of year. Actually, sometimes I prefer out of season, if it's a good writer, because it puts you there, kwim? So a nice summertime story in the chill of the winter, warming you up. Or stirs up happy memories at an unexpected time, like imagining the crisp autumn air, the smell of the leaves, the excitement of "back to school" time in the middle of summer. Etc. Etc.
