We are PCS'd in Korea. Just found out last night we are expecting baby #2. 3 test said positive... 1 Exchange Select brand and 2 EPT's. I called to get an appointment with the doctor to verify pregnancy and they said it would be 2 weeks from now. With my DD, we had a civilian doctor and it was verified the day after. This is our first PCS and first time dealing with military doctors. So is this normal?
So after getting the run around for 3 days, finally I talked to someone who knew what they were talking about. They said you have to go to the laboratory and get a test to show the insurance, then you will talk to the head nurse, and then they will set up the appt with the doctor. The pregnancy test at the laboratory are on Thursdays from 1-4:30. Last week was Thanksgiving, so I am going this Thursday. I wish I was in the states to have a civilian dr. I miss my old ob/gyn.
Hmmm With both pregnancies I dont think I was seen until 10 weeks. BUT I was asked to take the hpt with me when I went into do my referal to the OB/GYN clinic. I think its different at every post.
You don't have to wait that long to get the pregnancy confirmed you just go into the lab and tell them you need a pregnancy test. If that doesn't work you just walk in the clinic tell them you had a positive home test and you need to get a urine from the lab to confirm for Tricare then you can book your first appointment. If you wait two weeks then wait another two weeks to get your first appointment thats too long you need to go ahead and pick up your vitamins (you just go to the ob clinic and tell them you need them). Then you schedule your first appointment which takes about 2 weeks to get. You should be seen about 2 weeks after you find out to make sure there are no early on issues to be seen. If you have any health problems you need to be seen sooner than that. With my first I was seen 2 weeks after my pregnancy test, then with my second I was seen 4 days after I found out to get me set up on high risk appointments because my first was a high risk pregnancy. So it all just depends.
we've never been stationed overseas, but when i found out i was pregnant with my second child they made me wait until i was 10 weeks to verify and for my first ob/gyn appt. i thought that was a really long time to wait, but i guess that's the military for ya. but try to go off post if you can. good luck and congratulations.
I don't think this is limited to military doctors. I have a few friends whose civilian OBs don't see them until 12 weeks or later. Mine saw me the minute I had a BFP but different docs are different

Anyone can give up; it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength.

I got pregnant and called my doctor (not military) and they said okay we will make an appointment for about 8 weeks after your last period....so I guess its standard to wait a little bit?!
i called my dr when i thought i was preg and i didnt have a positive test. they wouldnt see me until i was about 17 weeks because i would never get a positive hpt. when i got there, i took a test and it was neg, so they drew blood, and my levels were up. i got pretty mad because i knew, but they wouldnt do anything, and that was a civilian.
