What are your Triggers?

What leads you to pull? usually, there is some sort of stimulus for pulling to begin. i think that if we are more aware of what gets us going, perhaps we can find ways to head it off at the pass, so to speak.

i know that mine is stress. that is mostly unavoidable, but when i stress, i try to do something else rather than sit somewhere to think.

another for me is this weird itchy feeling. i know that it is just the hair growing back in, but boy does it itch! same thing with my eyelashes. the hardest part is when the eyelashes are just growing back in. this means they are short, prickly and hard. these are the ones that i pull most frequently, so i have to really FOCUS in order to push through that weird hard stage.

so these are mine, for the most part. it's nice to have a place to talk about this.

I find it's when I'm driving in the car and my kids are talking to me non-stop and I feel stressed, or when I'm sitting there watching TV or talking on the phone.  I search for those hairs or eyelashes or eye brows that are different.  The ones that are growing in and are thick are some of the victims!  That itchy feeling is also a big trigger.

anxiety or being bored seems to trigger me. also, sometimes my chin itches and I purposely feel around an area I pull at. thankfully the hair isnt too dark and thick, but if i keep it up it will be. I have been trying to control the urges. I am very aware of what I'm doing, but continue to do it.

I dont think I have triggers. I just set around, and pull allday.

I will be watching tv while the kids are in bed, just settin there pulling my hair out of the scalp. I never do my eye lashes or brows.

I heard that people pull by triggers etc. I also heard some people search for strains of hair that feel different and pull what feels different. I do that myself. I pull the strains that feel like they are different out.

Wow, all of this sounds so familiar.  I do all of this too.  Driving in the car, reading, watching tv, anytime I have to think about something important.  I also find the kinky, thick ones to start with first.  But don't let me have a mirror because if I notice a gray hair it is so gone.

I have alot of triggers: strees, boredom, while I smoke cigarettes, while I read, watch tv, while I'm trying to fall asleep.. in the car... basically my whole lifestyle is one big trigger.
