Alright Ladies...I'm trying to figure something out. You spend 9 mths carrying your baby inside of you, during those 9 mths you do your best to make sure you are healthy and do everything right for your unborn baby. You do testing if needed, you eat healthy, you exercise...all that jazz. Then home when that baby is born, why is it that a lot of mothers skip out on returning to the doc when the child is a lil bit older? You spend 9mths making sure your child is healthy? What's wrong w/taking them back to the doc & just continuing to make sure they stay healthy? I am talking about checkups- NO VACCINES! Please understand that!

because they are stupid plain and simple. its really stupid not to take your kid to a check up thats how to see if there are any heath issues. my friend took my 9 month old for his check up and there found some serious issues with his heart

Thank you! I feel the same damn way! My friend hasn't taken her son in 2 yrs! Last time he saw a doc, he was literally like 2 mths old! It urkes me...she's all organic & health food stuff like that-but she still smokes (outside) but he's around it. Its just STUPID! Your child dies, it could have been prevented! Argh!

I always take my kids to their check ups, 1m, 2m, 4m, 6m, 9m, 12m, 18m, 2y, 3y, 4y, 5y etc..........after 2y its just an anual physical unless there is an issue! I delay some vaccinations & skip 1 entirely but otherwise that's how we have done it with all 3 kids now.

I know for some people it's money. I have a friend whose baby I'm a little concerned about, she is 5 months old, weighs 11 lbs, doesn't hold her head up well, is very fussy all the time, only sleeps about 3 hours a night according to her mom. She seems like a 1 month old when I hold her. She is their 8th child and her siblings were all big babies. I don't think she's been seen by a doctor since she was born. But her parents have terrible insurance and no government help and they don't take their children to the doctor unless it's an emergency, and even then they sometimes don't. I don't want to judge them though, I think they are great parents, but the lack of medical care does make me a little concerned for their kids at times. And as far as their baby, it may be nothing, my daughter was also very tiny, but she was also very happy, alert, and ahead with her milestones, so I don't know, it's just everything alltogether that concerns me.

I wanted to update that although I still don't think my friend's baby has seen the doctor, they weigh her themselves and her mom told me she had lost weight (so she's probably like 10 lbs) She found out she's pregnant, she's never been pregnant this soon after having a baby. So she finally decided she needed to supplement with formula even though she hates doing it and is really sad about it. She said in just a couple of days her baby has started taking 7 oz from a bottle (sounds like it might be just once a day before bed though, I'm not sure) and is sleeping 5 hours straight. I just wanted to share good news about her.
