Isabel will be in kindergarden in the fall and will be riding the daycare van to school. I asked if a booster seat was required and was told that it wasn't. She's only 37lbs. I'm going to get her a seat to use in the van. Anyone else in this situation?
it just depends on the day care. but i wouldnt be comfortable with a 37 lbs child in a booster anyways. you would think if its just a van they would have to follow state laws on car seats. In missouri you have to be 4 yrs old and 40 lbs to be in a booster. My almost 7 yr old son is only 39 lbs so hes not in a booster yet
In my case, I would tell them since the LAW states she has to be 40lbs to be out of a car seat that at the very least a booster is required. However, perhaps there was an error in communication and they meant that they provide a booster? Then again, maybe the law for school transport is different since 5 year olds ride busses with no seat belts?
DD is 31 lbs and was in preschool this year and rode a little bus this year and they had the option of letting you install a carseat but I didnt do it. Maybe next year when she is on the big bus!
Here daycares aren't allowed to use vans and the vehicles they use are considered the same as a school bus and don't have seat belts usually so they don't require car seats or boosters.
