My daughters dentist at Riley said that she has cavities in her molars since she will have them til she is 10 or 11 and they want to cap them...in order to do that, she has to be put to sleep, but she has been put to sleep like 5 times already for MRI's and her muscle biopsy surgery last week. Just wondering what you guys think about it. im in the air, my husband and aunt say they dont think its necessary, but im not sure..

a lot of people think that it is not neccessary to intervene with baby teeth, since they are going to fall out anyway... but if they are in poor health, and nothing is done about it... chances are her permanent teeth will be too.

I lack calcium and always have since birth and my teeth have neve been good, no matter how well I take care of them and I know what a cavity i.e. decaying tooth feels like and it's not any fun at all. As for the times she has already been put to sleep, ask her pediatrician about it or even contact an anesthesiologist about it. Also ask her doctor around about when the tooth would actually start to "bother" her and how long the possibility is of putting it off. You are her mom and ultimately knows what's best for her. I have learned to trust my gut and motherly instincts instead of any Dr. or family member. As for her already having cavs. it is possibly from the anesthesia and medicines that she has been on so no guarantee that her mature teeth will be affected, just make sure her gums stay healthy, even if that means wiping them with a soft cloth dabbed with toothpaste and her rinse and spit. Best of luck with this and the future.

Try Spry infant formula 5-6x a day. for 30 days.  I have seen the damage stop in my daughters teeth.  Now I just need to figure out part 2.

Make sure you see more than one dentist for a consultation.

My opinion is not to put in amalgam fillings.

My son has a metabolic disorder and I am not sure if that has anything to do with his teeth but the dentist say yes, however his specialist say no.  Anyways... They told me that putting his under general anesthesia was very risky with his condition.  However, he needed six crowns.  His four front teeth and two top molars.  I had to battle a major decision since the specialist says it can lead to death higher than with normal children.  But if I did not fix the decay it can ruin his adult teeth and it can affect his current health.  I think if the dentist reccomend that you do it for your childs health that it is neccesary.  You always have to be your childs advocate.  So if you feel its not that bad then try flouride treatments to keep it from getting worse.  I hope this helps.
