Michael Jackson's kids join fans for birthday vigil
Michael Jackson's children joined fans for a vigil in the late star's hometown on Wednesday (29Aug12) to mark what would have been the King of Pop's 54th birthday.
The singer's sons, Prince and Blanket, and daughter Paris, travelled to the town of Gary, Indiana to mark the occasion outside their father's former family home as part of a four-day tribute entitled Goin' Back to Indiana: Can You Feel It, which runs until Saturday (01Sep12).
A large crowd gathered outside the house and sang Jackson's hits, while the children posed for pictures with fans and signed autographs. They were joined by their aunt, La Toya, and their co-guardians, grandmother Katherine and cousin T.J.
Paris shared her experience by posting a picture of the crowd on her Twitter.com page, with the caption, "You guys are amazing!!!"
La Toya added on Twitter, "I had such a fun day with my family in Indiana! What great memories! There's no place like home!... Happy Birthday Michael! You will always be missed but never ever forgotten! We all thank you for the memories... I truly wish 2 (sic) thank all of MJ's fans throughout the world 4 (sic) remembering him today! Please continue to keep his legacy alive. He loves u all!"
The mayor of the town will host a special dinner on Friday night (31Aug12) to commemorate the King of Pop and a tribute concert will be held on Saturday (01Sep12) at a local theatre.
