Simon Cowell and Carmen Electra - new couple alert?

The latest celebrity couple rumor is that "X Factor" creator Simon Cowell has taken up with model/actress Carmen Electra. E! News says they were spotted out together Saturday (Sept. 22) and a source tells them, "They've known each other for awhile and had dinner with a big group of friends."

Not exactly hard evidence. But In Touch Weekly does E! one better. 

"They were really into each other," a fellow diner tells in Touch. "At one point, they were talking real close, and he leaned in and kissed her. They started making out!"

Uh huh.

The two have known each other for years and Cowell did have Electra guest judge on the U.K. version of "The X Factor" earlier this year, which is when Electra tweeted the above photo. But we aren't sure we'd start hunting up their wedding registry just yet.

I just looked up their ages. He's 52 and she's 40.
