Colts bald cheerleaders: Indiana dancers shave heads on sideline to support ailing coach Chuck Pagano
Two cheerleaders for the NFL's Indiana Colts are completely bald after having their heads shaved on the sideline by Colts mascot, Blue. The move was a tribute to Indiana Colts coach Chuck Pagano, who was stricken with leukemia and has been undergoing chemotherapy treatments.
Cheerleaders Megan M. and Crystal Ann raised more than $22,000 for leukemia research in honor of Pagano, after Blue issued a challenge for the women to go bald if he could raise at least $10,000. Just before the event, Megan tweeted, "It's about to go down Colts fans! Thank you for all of your support and may God bless all those affected by Cancer."
The women held hands as their hair was shaved off. Crystal is said to have decided just before game time to join Megan.
Quarterback Andrew Luck and other Colts players recently shaved their heads in support of Pagano, who received a standing ovation when he made a surprise appearance at the Colts' game against the Buffalo Bills.
Pagano received considerable media attention recently when he delivered an emotional locker room speech to Colts players, describing his vision of dancing at his daughters' weddings and winning several Vince Lombardi trophies. "I'm dancing at two more weddings," he says, "and we're hoisting that trophy together."
