Bachelor Star Gia Allemand's Funeral Will Be Open to Public
Bachelor Nation is reeling from the devastating loss of Gia Allemand, who passed away on August 14 from an apparent suicide attempt. Gia was rushed to the hospital after her boyfriend, Ryan Anderson, found her unresponsive Monday evening. Her death was confirmed by her rep, who issued the following statement:
"Gia passed away peacefully with her mother, boyfriend, and other life-long friends by her side. As a practicing Christian, Gia did receive the sacrament of last rites. Loved ones and fans will remember Gia Allemand as a caring woman who loved her family and was well-known for her compassion towards animals and mission to rescue homeless pets. Funeral arrangements will be forthcoming in another official statement once available. On behalf of the family, we sincerely ask for privacy at this time."
Although the family continues to remain silent, Gia’s rep released a statement to E! News with a few details on the memorial. "Gia Allemand's funeral will take place in New York at the Papavero Funeral Home. A date is not confirmed at this time. The funeral will be open to the public, yet no cameras or cell phones will be permitted inside. Many friends from theBachelor family are expected to be in attendance."
Although Gia had been living in New Orleans at the time of her death, the model is originally from Queens, New York, and lived in NYC before moving with boyfriend Ryan last year. TV Guide's Robyn Ross tweeted on August 15 about the decision to open the funeral to the public, saying she “can imagine how crowded it will be with how many people loved her."
We're sure countless Bachelor fans will be in attendance, as well as Gia's loved ones and Bachelor Nation co-stars. Wetpaint Entertainment will have more updates on the date, time, and venue as they are released.
