Lady Gaga, Eminem and rockers Arcade Fire are set to headline the first ever YouTube Music Awards in November (13).

The video-sharing website is due to host a live-streamed ceremony in New York on 3 November to honour top global performers, including mainstream stars as well as musicians who have found recognition through the site.

Rockers from South Korea, Russia, England and Brazil will perform during the 90-minute show, which will be filmed live from a warehouse with no studio audience.

Moviemaker Spike Jonze, who has taken the role of creative director of the YouTube Awards, tells the Los Angeles Times, "Instead of bands performing to an audience on a stage, we're going to have a warehouse with all these different sets and try to make live music videos throughout the night... The idea is let's get a bunch of interesting artists together and have a night that's all about making things."

Danielle Tiedt, YouTube's vice president of marketing, adds, "It's our chance to really celebrate the artists and the songs that have become hits on YouTube over the past year."

Nominations for the awards are due to be announced on 17 October (13).
