Duck Dynasty's Willie Robertson Reacts to Phil's Return: "He May Be a Little Crude But His Heart Is Good"

Duck Dynasty’s Robertson family has a lot to celebrate now that patriarch Phil has been reinstated on the hit reality show, and they’re back in A&E’s good graces. Phil’s son and fellow cast member, Willie, took to his social media to speak out on the end of his father’s suspension — one that lasted only a week following his controversial anti-gay remarks in a GQinterview.

On December 27, Willie responded for the first time since the start of his father’s scandal. “Back to work!!!” Willie tweeted. “So proud of all the fans of the show and family. Ole Phil may be a little crude but his heart is good. He's the Real Deal!”

And Willie was right to thank the public for their support. While Phil came under fire for stating that, in his opinion, being gay is “not logical” (along with some other, um, choice words), his major fan base wasn’t going to keep quiet as their favorite reality star was lambasted. In fact, over 250,000 signatures were collected in a petition asking for the duck call mogul’s reinstatement on the show, prior to A&E doing so last week.

We must say, though we expected Willie to stand up for his dad, as most sons would, we were a little surprised that he referred to his father as “a little crude.” At least someone in the Robertson family is admitting that the way Phil expressed his opinions (direct quote: "It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man's anus”) was out of bounds and inappropriate.

Do you agree with Willie that Phil’s “heart is good” at the core? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.

I absolutely agree. Funny how we hear nothing of this reporter that baited him when his publicist wasn't around. Everyone knows he's a very religious man. No one should be surprised that he believes homosexuality to be a sin.

Anyone who is religious and upfront about seems to be baited with this question. Why not just leave that question out all together. Oh wait... we need to drag them all out into the streets and beat them. Right.
