Never say never!

George Clooney, Hollywood's most eligible bachelor, is going to be a married man once again.

The Oscar-winning actor, 52, is engaged to wed 36-year-old British lawyer Amal Alamuddin, a source close to the couple tells Yahoo.

"Entertainment Tonight," which broke the story, reported that the two dined at Japanese restaurant Nobu in Malibu, California, on Thursday, and that Alamuddin was seen flashing her (undoubtedly impressive) ring to Clooney friend Cindy Crawford.

Clooney and Alamuddin were first photographed together having dinner in London back in October. At the time, Clooney shot down stories he was dating Alamuddin or any other women for that matter. Later, however, the two were seen in New York; L.A.; Washington, D.C.; the Seychelles; and on a Safari in Tanzania.

The newly engaged couple have a lot to talk about: two areas of law that Alamuddin specializes in are international law and human rights. The philanthropic Clooney has an interest in both. He was arrested last year for protesting in D.C. about human rights in Sudan and became a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a nonpartisan think tank, in 2010.

Clooney has attained playboy status in recent years as he's romanced several younger beauties such as Elisabetta Canalis and Stacy Keibler, and was named People's Sexiest Man Alive twice.

However, the "Gravity" star was married once before to "Mad Men" actress Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993. Inseveral interviews, Clooney has said it was his fault that the marriage failed. He's also mused that it's unlikely he would wed again because he wasn't very good at being a spouse.

"I don't expect to ever get married again or have children," he told Britain's Sunday People in 2008. "I am never at home and every woman gets sick of it… If I was them, I would never put up with me for long — and they don't."

Good thing Alamuddin is used to traveling.

I am happy for them. I think she is gorgeous and the type of intelligent woman George needs. They both are champions of human rights.

Good for them!

I agree. It seems George has final found someone who is in many ways his equal, and doesn't need him for his fame. I think it is wonderful.

I didn't think he would ever get married but when I saw a picture of them together and read about her a few months ago, I thought that maybe she was THE ONE!  She's gorgeous and brilliant and they have so much in common.
