Okay, so just a little insight.. my cousin is off her rocker and her bipolar meds and may possibly be getting her child taken away very soon. She has a cps appointment this weekend.
I have talked to the caseworker (without Danielle knowing) and she has confirmed to me that they would like to put Danielle up for a psychiatric evaluation, and if that happens, they would like to put the baby (she'll be 2 in Jan) with a family member until they get it all figured out. The only one that will do it is me.
I was just wondering if anyone has ever willingly taken a family member's child in, how you felt about it.. how they (the birth parents of the child) reacted...etc
She has told my aunt several times that she can no longer take care of the baby.
Also, if I take her in would I qualify for help from the state- maybe a little extra food stamps for her, or some cash assistance? Things aren't really super tight around here, but another child would make it that way.
Any insight is appreciated thank you.
*EDIT* IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN IN THIS SITUATION OR HAVE NO ADVICE PLEASE GIVE THIS A BUMP.
*EDIT* so i just got off the phone with the caseworker, i had some more stuff to tell her so she called me back today. she did not sound happy that she is living with this guy who is an alcholic and a drug user. she was upset about a lot of the things i had to say.. i just hope all goes in my favor with this caseworker visiting her.. because that baby needs out of there asap.

I am really not sure but I would think if the state is giving you the child they would help you support her.
thanks. i am just worried that my cousin is going to act all psychotic on me and stuff when she finds out that i am the one that has her kid. she really is that psycho and i honestly could see her doing something like that.. that's why no one else wants to take Jaydhen.
