Click here for link to medela's website, product info. You can even compare the products.

I had the pump in style 5 yrs ago and loved it.

Freestyle is handfree, comes with a battery pack, has an LCD screen, you can save your preferred pumping setting, and no stupid little white flaps that go bad in 3 months.  Its the top of the line pump IMO

I have both a freestyle and a PIS..cafemom gave me a freestyle(I LOVE CAFEMOM!!!)

They did a post asking about what we would do with our free hands if we got a freestyle, I think it was in the Daily buzz, and I answered, they liked my answer and I got a pump 3 weeks later.  Preggers right now with my last and had PLANNED to buy one..wasn't even preggers when I won lol.

I purchased the Pump In Style for my first and loved it.  The suction level is variable, and I never had to replace any parts, though I'm getting new tubing to use with my second just to be safe that no germs hid out in there while in storage.

The Freestyle wasn't available when I was shopping, otherwise I probably would have gone that route for the hands free option.

Don't know the difference, but I agree about Ameda Purely Yours which is actually Medela's cheaper line.  I breast feed my 1st for 13 months and pumped 3 times per day -still breast feeding my 2nd .  So solid 2 years of pumping and it is great.  Replacement parts are reasonable, too.  Good luck!
