Ok so I have to much time to think. I am tired of going nowhere. I have a family now and I feel I need to do more to take care of them. I currently work nights which has put a huge strain on the family. I am concidering going to nurseing school. I understand It would be difficult and timely but I need imput to prepare me or send me running. HELP!

I am in nursing school now and although it is hard it is worth it!!! It is alot of work even when you get out of school but in the long run you will love it. As a RN you can make up to $50 hr with enough experience. I am going for my LPN first then RN. My teacher said in my area when I get done I should be making like $20/hr. So yes def, worth it in my opinion. HTH some!!!

2 years for your associates and 4 years for your bachelors...OP, my friend is a nurse and he loves it...he lives in atlanta, and last year he made $75k, so yea, I would say it's worth it!

Depends where you wanna work. The other poster has it right but there are some where you can get a certificate for LPN and still get the same jobs. I am personally going for my certificates since I plan to move on anyways but it is a good idea if you don't have time to go for 2-4 years. It takes 1 year to get your certificate, which is what i'm doing then you can get a job at a long term facility and alot of times they will pay for you to go get you RN as long as you work for them for like 18-24 months after you graduate. Sounds like a plan to me!!!!

Way too stressful of a job for me!! I am an occupational therapist and work along side nurses daily... I would not want their job!! Have you looked into something like Physical Therapy Assistant or Certified Occupational 'Therapy Assistant school? It is a 2 year associates degree and a much "easier" job if you ask me!
All I can say is this....
DO NOT become a nurse unless YOU HAVE A DEEP DESIRE TO CARE FOR PEOPLE.
It is a very important job...a very demanding job...and an extremely rewarding job if you go into it for the right reasons.
There are too many nurses in the field for the wrong reasons (high job demand and good pay). They make their patients miserable and their fellow nurses miserable.
It is a job that not everyone should do...but if you have a passion for the comfort and care of people who need you...not just patients, but their families as well...then you are the right kind of person to go into nursing.
Also...unless you get a position in a clinic or something, be prepared to work all shifts, weekends and holidays. 1st shift jobs are usually the ones that go to nurses with more seniority...2nd and 3rd shift pay more, but are sometimes the only positions open (depending on where you live)
My grandmother, mother, and two uncles are all nurses...and they all went into it for the right reasons...but we have had to celebrate many holidays on a different day (say, Thanksgiving on the weekend before)...because hospitals don't just shut down for the holidays!
Yes it is worth becoming a nurse..
its long hours and lots of work.. but the pay is excellent, the benefits are good and you will never run out of work.. nurses are always in great demand. Besides is a noble career, you are helping people.
Go on mamma.. you can do it!
depends here its 2 yrs associate degree for RN and 1yr for LPN full time programs IMO no its too much responsiblty my mom is a nurse and i see her get frustrated i am a CNA and i hate my job so IMO no

I wish I had gone to nursing school directly out of high school.
I say GO FOR IT! It's such an in-demand career and you can use those job skills in so many different areas (schools, hospitals, offices, insurance companies, etc.).
