we didnt even try to bottle feed him until he was 2 weeks old.Having a preemie, not to mention a very sick preemie is very hard in itself let alone the stress of pumping.I swear i didnt take my eye off that damn pump and i would cry when i realized that after pumping for 30 minutes on each side i had only gotten a table spoon. I still froze it and took it to the nicu but it was hard seeing all the other moms bringing in coolers full of BM i had already felt terrible as it was.Ive been bashed on here for not trying hard enough, but honestly until you have been in my shoes and cared for such a small sick baby they have no idea what moms like us went threw.

I was in the same boat. This is my DD and you can kinda see the tube in her nose. this is one of the first times she took a bottle. I was pumping and bringing it to the NICU but because preemies have trouble eating and breathing I ran out too. If it was not for formula my baby would have went hungry too. and for someone who has we did not try hard enough I'm guessing has never tried to BF or FF their baby and watch their stats drop because their baby was unable to breath.

You see that little tube in his nose??? Guess whats in it...Formula!!!! I was one of those "bad" moms that wasnt able produce milk since he was so early and becasue my high bp killed my supply. Yes i pumped for 22 days and never got more then half a cup a day,by the 22nd day i was completly dry.I gave him what i could but I dont feel bad about him having formula,he had to eat. Ive was told by women on here that i didnt try hard enough, but its not easy when your baby doesnt even learn to breath suck swollow untill he is 2 months old. I couldnt even hold him until he was 3 days old. I gave 150% of my being to my son to make sure he survived,i know i am a good mom.
This is my formula fed miracle now i guess formula isnt that bad if it can make my once 2 pound baby grow into a beautiful HEALTHY 2 and half year old. NeoSure is an amazing formula for preemie babies :)

You have no idea how hard it was for me to breastfeed. My son wouldnt latch on to my inverted nipples. Its called breast feeding not nipple feeding. The only thing that worked was a nipple shield. It got him to the breast but took til he was 6 weeks old for him to actually take all his feeds at the breast. i pumped every 2 hours, took fenugreek to boost my supply and i never gave up. i was determined to breastfeed. I talked to many lactation consultants and the LLL and got encouraged to not give up. He finally nursed without the shield at 4 months old.
I do know it is hard to breastfeed and takes alot of work but all the work pays off. I do have plenty of pics of him taking a bottle in his early days but it was always my milk not some chemically created cows milk.

I am a ERF, EH, non vaxing, non cio, non spanking, co-sleeping, babywearing, single working mother
