a dress in December?

SO's mom called SO yesterday and asked if i had a dress for the baby shower. Do i need a dress for a baby shower? I can understand if the baby shower was in the summer time but it's going to be in december..... Is a dress really needed? Did you wear a dress? Please let me know. Please Bump

I wore a SKIRT to one and black dress pants to the other.  We have a Burlington Coat Factory here where I was able to find some cute maternity dress clothes that weren't expensive since I knew I wasn't going to wear them other than for the showers.  Do what YOU are comfortable with.

I wore a dress at my shower in oct, and my shower in aug.  I will probably just wear a nice long sweater and leggings for this one (in jan)

I would wear dress, skirt, or slacks. When are you due? If you don't already own a nice outfit, I can see not wanting to spend money one something new. I recommend picking the nicest thing you have - is your MIL offering to get one for you?

I don't wear pants so I always wear a skirt or dress....if you wear pants though, I don't see why you'd need to wear a dress just for a baby shower.

I think you should wear EXACTLY what you want to this baby shower.... why is your SO mother dressing you? YIKES! She sounds like the type who is going to try and tell you how to do everything.... don't let that start!

Things are not dressy anymore I don't think.  I wouldn't wear a dress to a summer or winter baby shower.

I wore a pair of gray slacks and a blue long-sleeved shirt, and - get this - NO SHOES.  I'm trashy, what can I say?  None of my dress shoes fit right and my back was killing me, so I just didn't wear any.  We had it at my sister's house, and I had spent the night there, so its not like I just showed up barefoot I just never put shoes on.

MIL bought pretty much all my maturnity clothes. She is real down to earth. I have a nice pair of jeans and a nice shirt. Im due January 6th. Thanks for your help

Haha no she is not controlling or anything. I guess she just assumed that i would want to or whatever. It's not a HUGE baby shower.. just close friends and family. maybe a total of 30 people or somewhere around there. I have nice clothes i think she was just assuming... I dont know. Thanks tho!
