My daughter was a little older than a year when she threw her bottle across the room and it exploded on the floor, she also TOLD me she wanted a cup.  From then on she got a cup.  She also had a pacifier, until she was three, I knew that when she looked for it she was either sick or very tired because those were the only times she actually used them.  Yes she kept them with her (security) but used when she was very tired or sick.  I know a lot of people don't like to see older toddlers with pacifiers, my solution to that problem is to simply not look at them.  My mom was the same about the pacifier, My thoughts, were MY child, MY way of raising her.  My daughter gave up her pacifier on her own because she kept leaving them where the dog could get to it and tear it up and I got tired of buying them on an almost daily basis.  So her last one she threw away on her own and spent the rest of the day in her room....

My daughter is the same age and still gets them.  I breastfed her until she was 10 months but she started losing weight so we had to start formula.  But if I could still breastfeed her I would, so I don't know why breastfed moms can go until 2 but they expect bottle babies to quit at 1.  I know there are benifits for breastfeeding, but not all babies want to give up bottles at 1 years old, plus my daughter wouldn't eat and I don't want her losing weight again.

As long as the bottle in bed has water or breastmilk, it is fine. Anything else can damage her teeth. Before she goes to bed, her teeth should get brushed, and then she should only get water or breastmilk.

Well they reccomend taking bottles at 1 because they can damage a child's teeth. Having a paci until 3 can do the same. If she is just getting them at night they should be water IMO. My 10mo old only gets water at night in his bed and he will be off the bottle next month. You are the mother but maybe she is just thinking of the medical side of it. GL

I got rid of the bottle for my kids when they were both 9 months old. They both were switched to regular milk at that time and they both hate regular milk then and now. They ate regulare food at that time also not salty or greasy. People raise their kids their own way. They both also had pacifiers and I got rid of those also. My son had a lot of ear infections so that is why I had to get rid of his bottle early and my daughter didn't tolerate formula well so that is why I had to get rid of her bottle early. Even without that happening to either of them I still would have gotten rid of the bottle at a year old because it messes with their teeth and to me at that age they need to learn to use the sippy cup
