So I've been offered two great oppurtunities.  One I know pays well and I can do it, but I know in the end I may end up hating it.  On the other hand I have another where the pay is quite less.  But I know I will like it more and will give me more time to spend with my kids.  With budgeting these days I know I shoudl take the first offer.  But having to sacrifice the time I get to spend with the boys now.  What would you do?

I was a single mom, with minimal if any, help from the ex. I always chose the positions that would not interfere with my kids. I'm now 51 and what that has left me with is minimal in social security benefits for when I retire.  On the other hand....I still live that lifestyle....I do what I love, which isn't full time and doesn't pay greatly....but I'm also not swallowed up by my job.

It depends on  how badly you need the money! Personally i would go for the one you know you will like eventhough it will make less money, my husband made the mistake of taking a  job only for the money..he hated the job and quit after 3 months.

Throughout the world, there exists a group of women who feel mightily drawn to giving care to women in childbirth. At the same time maternal and independent, responsive to a mother's needs, yet accepting full responsibility as her attendant; such women are natural midwives. Without the presence and acceptance of the midwife, obstetrics becomes aggressive, technical, and inhuman.

I would go for the second...if you get to spend more time with your kids and you like the job there will be less of a chance of you quitting down the line, and probably more of a chance for promotion/raise.

Good luck with whatever you decide!
