Do you own a gun? Why or why not?

Why or why not?  Have you ever owned a gun?

Yes I do.  Between my husband and I we own well over 15 guns, and 6 of them belong to me.  We have them because we can, and because we both like to hunt and target shoot. :)

I don't care for guns. I just don't want them in my house.  I don't really have a need for one.  I am totally for the right to bear arms though.  I just choose not to.

I own a gun beacuse I am alone with my ds alot and so wants me to be able to protect myself. Also knowing how to use a fire arm is a good survival skill.. I own one and know how to use it

I support others rights to bear arms, but I'm not interested in owning one myself.  I am fascinated by people who feel they need to wear their 9mm on their hip at the Cracker Barrel.  It concerns me that people own weapons that don't practice gun safety (I know it's not all, so don't start) My dad was the Chief of Police growing up, so I've been around guns and my ex hunted and is a cop in the military, but I just don't feel the need to own one.

Nope.  Neither my hubby or I have ever tried hunting (we can get plenty of venison from our hunting friends).  He said he had enough of weapons when he was in the army.

Yes we do, we have a safe full..... I like guns, and live in a rough area with many many home invasion's.... someone comes in here and well they might not leave the same.

We currently own 1 .22 pistol.  My dh "inherited" it when his father passed away.  He would like to get more guns, and I have no problem with it, as long as he keeps them locked up.  We have taught our kids about guns, and they know never touch Daddy's gun, if they want to see it, we will let them though, we don't want them to be afraid, just aware.

If you didn't have a use for guns or didn't have your interest in hunting and target shooting, do you still think you would own one?  I am just curious because of the "because we can" statement.  Is that enough reason to have one if you really had no reason to.  When I read that, my first thought was, "There are a lot of things that I CAN do, but I still choose not to because it isn't for me."

So, I am not trying to start anything, I am just truly just curious that if you didn't feel a need for one or if it wasn't your hobby if you think you would still own one.

Sure do, let the motherf**kers come in my house. Oh and I also think there is going to be a civil war soon, ya know when Obama tries to take the guns away from civilians.

how soon do you think this is going to be?  do you know of any organized groups that have an actual plan?
