My SO wants two games for the PS2 that are going to be on special Friday at Game Crazy but we already have the games for the Xbox.  This sounds stupid to me.  His reasoning is the Xbox is always in the boys' room so he doesn't get to play them.  Last I checked, the Xbox can be moved.  The PS2 is in our room because he adopted it, I guess, so if my younger boy wants to play the PS2 I either have to let him play it in my room or move the system to the living room, how is this any different?  I would rather spend the money and get him other things he needs/wants because there isn't going to be a lot of extra money for each other.  Now he's pissed because I told him I didn't understand and will be mad if I get him the games.  Good gravy!  Help!

Is he aware that their isn't a lot of extra money for Christmas?  If so, then I would say get them if that is what he wants.  You did say that you wanted to get him something he really wants.

If he ask why he didn't get x, y or z then just remind him that he said he really wanted the games and that he knew there wasn't a lot of extra money for Christmas.

I believe he's aware but when I brought up that we already had those games and it didn't make any sense buying them for another system but if that's what he wants then that's fine.  Then he said, "fine don't get them and if you do then I'm just going to be mad."  By the same token, I'm a bit pissed that the PS2 is in our room, it was here before he moved in and I'm a bit annoyed that he decided that it should not be available for the boys, particularly the younger one, unless I want to move it or have my son play in my/our room.

We have seperate incomes.  On paper it looks like I make more money and I guess I do but I have my boys to buy and care for too and I don't think he quite understands that yes my boys will get Christmas but his part is going to be limited just like my part from him will be limited.

I'm really happy with this relationship and for 99% of it everything is fine but sometimes men are just as big of babies as children.

Why not make a new rule, no gaming systems in any bedrooms?  That would definitely stop all of that...it is absolutely sill to have to move a gaming system everytime the kids want to play it.

Of course your living room TV will be even more occupied...but it would afford you the ability to give him the games he wants because he would have full access to the XBox and still be able to buy him other stuff that he wants/needs.

HA!  Yep, I tried the no game systems in the rooms but the male people just don't seem to understand this concept.  We even have a playroom with a big screen TV for the game systems, problem is they don't want to be in there because they just can't lounge.  LOL!  Perhaps all they need for Christmas is a couch for the Playroom.  I just don't understand the male species and their stupid video games.

Heaven help me, but I'm actually thinking about getting "THEM"  WoW for Christmas just to solve the whole video game issue but then that may cause all kinds of other problems.

Geesh, all I want is something to put my laptop on when I'm lying in bed.

Well, I can't talk...I love my video games.

I have an idea...what about gaming chairs...

We actually have chairs like that but the male people prefer to lay down and lounge while they play their games.  I never said they didn't have issues.  I think it all boils down to, they like their space and don't want anyone babbling while they are playing their stupid games and that's why each console has it's own "special" room.  It wasn't so much a post about what to do about the situation but what to do about a man being a baby and not quite getting it.
