Someone told me wet tea bags, supposedly its supposed to help take the sting out and prevent it from blistering, but I don't know the reality behind that. I know my brother did it when he put his hand on a burner, and his burn didn't seem to last that long, but I don't know.

I burned my hand a couple of weeks ago.... about the size of a quarter. I called the nurse line and they said NOT to use ice or butter (two common remedies at home) because it deepens the burn. All it does is ease the pain... and make things worse. She said to dress it lightly with gauze after putting vaseline on it. She said to change the sressing once a day, to not get it wet at all, and keep it away from infections risks like dirt, raw meat, etc....

I hope that helps!

This is what I was told, also, by a nurse at the hospital.  I had burned my hand at work and the nurse said that the worst mistake people make, is putting ice or butter on the burn.  She said it just makes the burn worse, even though it relieves your pain.

my fiance is an ex volunteer firefighter and they were giving them some ems training so that if the ems were slow or what have you they could help some, and he was taught you dont put anything on it at all.  especially if its 3rd degree so....

burn cream and do not wrap it. you dont want the heat to stay in. its probably going to blister no matter what. just watch it

You start with warm water and gradually go to cold. I have burned myself cooking a few times
