Snoring - ideas for stopping

Hi,

I have a problem...I snore really bad and it wakes up my husband.  I have tried different things, like not drinking any acohol late (like past 6pm).  Drinking lots of water, the breathe strips.  Nothing seems to work.

Any ideas on what i can do?

Thanks,

Mindy

You need to go talk to a doctor.  Snoring is often a sign of sleep apnea and that can be very dangerous.  It is REALLY important to talk to your doctor about it.

Yep, talk to your doctor.

If it turns out you don't have sleep apnea, you can try sleeping slightly elevated with more pillows, changing your sleeping position.... or, go to the extreme and have separate bedrooms.  That's what my husband and I do, lol.  We both snore like crazy and decided that a good night's rest was far better for our relationship than fighting to sleep next to each other.

Yep sounds like you need to see the doctor, could be apnea, sinus problems, etc.

My son-in-law did that and finally went to the doctor who referred him to a sleep disorder clinic--he had sleep apnea.  He was prescribed a c-pap machine (I think that is what it is called, but I could be confused), and insurance paid for it.  He is not nearly so noisy anymore, looks silly, but sleeps much better now!

I have tried different positions, changing sleeping positions....nothing helps.  Some nights are worse than others.  There are times when I don't snore at all.  I have told my hubby that I would sleep on the couch just so that he can get a good nights sleep, but he doesn't want that.

I just feel bad, when I know that my snoring has woken him up at night.  He says that we will just deal with it.

There is a sleep clinic here in Juneau, at least there was one a couple of years ago.  I may look into that.

Thanks for all your replies.  If you have any other suggestions, please let me know.  Thanks

I don't have any answers but to see a Dr.  I know my dh has sleep apnea but he refuses to see the Dr.  He is terrible.  Sleep apnea does kill.  Dh's Dad has had it for years and years but at least he uses the breathing machine at night.
