Found out today that the swine flu absences do not count toward the 10 days missed.

If you miss more than 10 days during a semester the school is on your butt and you have to have a dr's note for every day after tha missed.  Well, my dd, that usually never misses school has missed a lot this semester.   Today she felt dizzy and had a headach so she left 3 classes early.  The school here counts you absent all day even if you miss one class (I don't agree with that).  Anyway I asked how many days or partial days she missed and the nurse said 10.  BUT she said that because she had swine flu that those 3 days do not count towards her 10 days so she legally has missed just 7.  I am glad.  Because they demand you stay out of school if you are suspected of swine flu its not counting towards the 10 days missed.  The also told me that its still being reported that 97% of the flu cases now are swine.  The seasonal flu still hasn't hit yet.
