Unless there is a miracle I am going to have to put my baby puppy Zorro down tomorrow. He is so much pain, the shots the vet gave him aren't working. He can't sit up anymore. I am just beside myself in tears and don't even know how to feel right now other than extremely made and extremely sad.

He is whimpering I need to go. Thanks for letting me vent.

The night was horrible. He kept getting worse and worse, in more pain and in more pain. The vet asked one of the surgeons he knows to come into his office today to look at Zorro. The surgeon said it would be best to put Zorro to sleep. His back was too bad.

We are all beside ourselves with grief and cannot believe this.

Thank you all for being here for me, my family, and most of all our Zorro. He is in a better place and most importantly not in anymore pain.

but your hopes and your dreams.

Think not about your frustrations,

but about your unfulfilled potential.

but with what it is still possible for you to do.

I am SO sorry.  One time my dog who is hyper started acting very strange.  He would lie around and not eat or drink.  I was crying so hard I was actually yelling.  The reason?  They do not bill you anymore.  You HAVE to pay.  We did not have the money to take him to the vet.  Luckily he was just having a bad day.  May I ask what is wong with your puppy?  I know this is heartbreaking they are family.

you hav to think of it as doing him a favor. otherwise it will be too hard to do. I mean he will be better off if he is in that much pain.

I had to have our beloved Max put down years ago.  He was my heart my "first born" so to speak.  He was my "little guy" He became old and was having seizures and it was time.  Rather than watch him suffer I took him to the Vet where I held him, hugged him, petted him and told him to wait for me on the other side, that I would be there.  I had him cremated and his ashes sit on my night stand next to my bed.  When the time comes for Pebbles and Saide to go to the other side and join Max I will do the same.  I just hope that when my time comes I won't be forced to suffer and will be allowed to go on to the other side.

His spine is swollen and he is paralyzed from the middle of the back down to his back legs. He is jack russell/dashound so he has been jumping up/down and on/off things since he was a pup. He acts like a cat really, sleeps on the back of the couch and the chair. We call him our chicken/cat/dog; he is scared of most every thing, climbs like a cat, and barks like a dog. LOL He is only 4 years old so him being young makes this even more difficult. My husband wants the surgery done but that is $2-4000. The vet said we could make payments but we live paycheck to paycheck. I am at a loss for words really.

Did the vet say he could walk again?  IF he can I say do it.  Save your little man if he won't be miserable.  Pay whatever you can pay.

Like the shots the surgery is 50/50. He said because his spine is so swollen he can't see everything very good on the x-rays and the only way to really tell is to have an MRI which he said costs thousands and he has never asked a patient to have one his whole 35 years in practice. He said if once he opened Zorro up and found things wouldn't be good he would close him back up and we could put him to sleep. I don't want to put my dog thru that but then again I don't want to put him to sleep either, if he could walk again and be pain free. I am stuck between a rock and a hard place.
