Strange marks?!UPDATE IN BLUE

 Hey ya'll!

I have a little issue. Jayden *my DS who is 20 months* just went into daycare b/c I just started work two days ago. Today I picked him up and noticed a bite mark on his cheek. I asked the teacher if a kid bit him and she said that none did while she was there but the morning teacher, it might have happened with her but she never said anything to her about it. Also there was also a bite mark on the base of the back of his neck, TONS of scratch marks all over his right arm.

Now...yes I know children DO play rough and I'm not accusing anyone of abusing my child because they are clearly little people bite marks....

What I don't know is should I say something to the director or just hold off? I don't want to under-react but I don't want to over react!

I just don't know how he could get bit twice and scratched to hell and back without anyone seeing it. Is the teacher actually WATCHING these kids? Is my child getting fair treatment from the teachers?

Any opinions?

I talked to both the director and the owner of the daycare. Both were EXTREMELY apologetic about the situation. I told them I wasn't accusing anyone of anything, nor was I super upset. I was just concerned. They gave me a week free of daycare lol and the teacher was actually terminated because apparantly that was not the first time she has violated daycare policy. Policy states that if a child is "injured" (i.e. biten, hit with bruise's, scratch marks caused by another child, etc.) by another student the agressor will be immediately pulled from the classroom, while the other student is consoled. The teacher is to IMMEDIATELY tell the director of the incident. At which time the director will call both the agressive child's parent/gaurdian and the "injured" child's parents/gaurdian.

The teacher never told the director, the child wasn't removed from the class. Maybe Jayden didn't cry so it's possible it went un-noticed ONCE (I can understand but not multiple times). However, it HAD to be noticed after the first! So anyways; Jayden hasn't returned home with anymore bruising, or bite marks. The director was so upset that this all happened. I just told her that I wasn't necessarily upset that it happened all together, I was just concerned that maybe my child wasn't being properly watched. So the situation is fully taken care of!

I would definitely talk to the director about this.  Don't go in there half-cocked ready to go off.  Just be calm and explain your concerns.

Say something......1...What if the next time it breaks the skin and the other kid has something....2....they need to know it happened there so they dont think it happened at home..

Yeah that's what I was planning because it never works being a bitch (for me it doesn't anyway lol)...I'm not accusing anyone of being abusive but someone needs to be watching him more...

yeah very true...didn't think about that!!

i'm going to suggest they have an "injury log" like they did in his previous daycare. If he fell and bumped his head or something like that they'd make an incident report and give you a copy and make you aware of it immediately coming into the center.

id say something. definately. one bite would have brought out screams. if noone noticed my child crying out in pain, something would have to change now.

Oh yeah I'd talk to the director about any bites.  Bites can be serious,

Talk to them.  I was bitten and scratched in preschool, and I REMEMBER it to this day.  Both times were totally unprovoked, and my mom pulled me from the preschool when they wouldn't do anything about it.
