Tonight I am having a dinner guest that I have not met (she works with my husband).  I need idead on what to make for dinner.  I do not have a clue.  I do not want to make our chepo recipes like noodles, corn, and chicken lol.  I need something not too pricey and hard, but good for a guest.  Thanks

What about stuffed pork chops?  Those are good and doesn't usually cost more than chicken.

Tuscan white bean and sausage soup? I made it last night and it's amazing...you could use it as part of the meal.

Do you guys have a grill? It's perfect grilling weather, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob etc. It's all pretty cheap.

Ok I am doing this all it calls for is stuffing pork chops and soup.  We will make mashed potatoes and need one other thing.

I would do salad for the one other thing, or some kind of veggie, otherwise you could end up with a starch heavy meal :)

Yea I do not want to do ALL starch so DH is saying just some frozen veggies, but I didn't know if I should do a veggie "DISH" or if frozen veggies were ok.

How about a corned beef dinner? What I do with mine is boil it until it's done then put it into a large pan preheat oven to 250F degrees pat down the meat dry. In a bowl I mix together 1 cup apricot preserves (apricot jelly) 1/2 cup brown sugar & 1 Tbls worchestire sauce then glaze it all over the meat. I pop it in the oven for 45 mins or so until it's all yummy. I just boil up some potatoes, carrots & cabbage on the stove top so they are not all mushy to serve with them. It's cheap but soooo yummy :)
