Anyone a nurse or a doctor? I have a question about a prescription cream I have for my daughter...

My daughter has contact dermatitis on her inner thigh of her left leg. The ER prescribed her Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream USP, 0.025% (I'm not sure if it's generic or not) But anyway, it says on it to only use it for one week, and that's also what the ER doctor said. However, when i brought her to a follow up at her doctors, her doctor wasn't there, so we had to see a nurse practitioner (sp?) and she said to continue to use the cream as the ER doctor told me to. It made one week yesterday (Friday). I asked her, well what if it's not gone by Friday, what if it's still there, what do I do? And she seemed a little unsure about herself, but she said that people have used that cream for up to a month, and that I could continue using that cream after Friday, as long as it was making it better. It IS making it better...it's almost gone. But it is still there. So I'm wondering if it's safe to continue using it, or if she just didn't know what she was talking about. I'm supposed to put the cream on her twice a day...my dad said I should just put it on once a day instead since it's been a week...what do you think? I don't want to stop treating it yet because it's still there and I don't want it to come back or something, but I don't want to continue using a medication thats supposed to be used for a week if it's not safe for her. By the way, she's 2 and a half. Thanks for any advice.

Call a pharmacist at the pharmacy where you got the meds...they can probably help better than a doctor or nurse...they are trained in drugs, reactions, usage.

I'm a nurse and I agree with this.
