50mg Benadryl for a 39lbs 5 year old?!

My mother watched my children for a while yesterday and while playing outside my daughter was bitten several times by some kind of insect (my mom is unsure but thinks possibly ants). Anyway when we got home I gave her a 25mg tablet of Benadryl. She woke up this morning with A LOT of swelling and redness so I called the doctor and got her in to be seen. It was recommended that I give her two of the 25 mg tablets twice a day but to me that seems like too much for her weight. Should I just give her the 25mg or go with the recommended 50mg? She weighs 39 pounds.

Medication is prescribed by weight. I don't think it sounds like too much.
